So here we are early on in 2021 and we decide to have our first Boys Day Out of the year.
Originally we were going to do it on Monday so I took the day off of work to surprise David. Unfortunately I didn't account for the fact that his holiday schedule was over, and so he'd no longer have Monday's off. On top of that, he was scheduled for brushups and rehearsals all week, so he was unable to call out. So we moved it to Sunday and had Dakota call out.
Our first goal was to go to Hash House a Go-Go. Dakota and Ali had never been so we really wanted to show them how good the breakfast was. We woke up obnoxiously early (I think around 5AM) and left early to pick up Dakota from his house, then picked up Ali from his girlfriends place, and then got to the restaurant five minutes before opening. The whole goal for the morning was to get there right at opening because Hash House usually gets packed quick, and their parking lot sucks. Fortunately/unfortunately it was all for nothing. They didn't fill up at all.
We were supposed to go to Dezerland Park, but they didn't open until 11am, and we finished breakfast around 9am. So we all went back to our place and played some Mario Kart. While there, I found a Groupon for WonderWorks, making it $20/person for tickets. So we decided to go to WonderWorks instead, for our Boys Day Out as both Ali and Dakota had also never been there.
So we got to WonderWorks and after a bit of a wait we made it in. I haven't been to WonderWorks since, damn, I think middle school so around 100 years ago it seems. Honestly though, not much has changed. We walked around checking out the different interactive exhibits.
After WonderWorks, we walked over to Icon Park to have a quick treat at the Sugar Factory. We took a seat at the bar and ordered milkshakes and rainbow sliders. Turned out the bartender serving us knew Ali and David and she ended up comping us the whole meal. Thank you Trish!
It was another successful and fun Boys Day Out. We have some more fun planned in the coming months. We want to do a beach trip, but we have to wait for the weather to get a bit warmer.
